Nigerian female Disc Jockey, Nanayate Abedoh, popularly known as ‘DJ Nana’, may soon be tying the knot with her secret lover. In January 2015, the popular female DJ who went through the hard knocks of life to gain recognition and acceptance in the Nigerian entertainment industry because she is a female, said she was not thinking of settling down in marriage yet because she was still busy chasing money and
finding a place in the industry.

Two years down the line, the Kogi State-born DJ has finally come to terms with a divine union. She revealed to Potpourri in an exclusive interview that she is now ready to settle down.
“Well, I’m not of the same opinion, a lot has changed and as a woman I feel I need more or something new. I have been thinking about marriage, and yes, I’m ready to welcome that development”, she said. DJ Nana, who was seen partying hard at Skales’ birthday recently, insinuated that she is patiently waiting for the day she would say “I do”.

Celebrity stylist turned publisher (Fame magazine), Ifan is at it again and this time, Nollywood has taken his fancy. He wears several hats in his debut production, ‘Lotanna’ including actor, costumier, producer and even takes credit for creating the story.

‘Lotanna,’ after several years in the making with a change of cast finally premiered at the Nigerian box office this month. Directed by Toka Mcbaror, the movie stars Liz Benson Ameye, Jide  Kosoko, Chris Attoh, Chris Okagbue, Keturah King, Victor Olaotan, Meg Ontanwa, Ama K. Abebrese, Henry Adofo, Ifan and Raymond Iorkohol.
It follows the story of its titular character, Lotanna who has to offset a debt owed to Don Creflo by his late father.
The Hits
Costume. Ifan is in his element here! He nails this part to a tee. The costumes evoke the era in which the film took place – the 80s. To be honest, we did not expect any less.

                                                       Movie Review, ‘Lotanna’
Music. When you have Praiz on the soundtrack and Tee-Y Mix playing a music producer, your expectations are quite high. Thankfully, ‘Lotanna’ does not disappoint in its music selection to reflect the period.
Photography. Again, ‘Lotanna’ benefits from the lenses and trained eyes of Nigerian photography royalty such as Kelechi Amadi Obi and Yetunde Babaeko. Their experience is evident in not just the quality but the texture of the photography which beautifully captures the 80s.
The Misses
Story. The story starts off on a good note – a child witnesses the death of his father and makes it his life ambition to walk in his musical steps. Once the Don Creflo character shows up, the movie begins to lose steam going from drama to melodrama to comedy. The story is stretched and hurriedly wrapped up. Now who is to take the blame? The story creator (Ifan), the screenwriter (Kemi Adesoye) or the contributing writer who was responsible for the first screenplay (Godson Ukaegbu)? Or perhaps, a more experienced director would have done a better job.
Directing. From the acting to the pacing of the film, so many things went wrong. Toka Mcbaror would have done well not to get carried away by beautiful costumes, a star cast, great music and stellar photography. A lot more work was needed in the area of characterisation save for the veteran acts such as Liz Benson, Jide Kosoko, Victor Olaotan and Bimbo Manuel. Was Toka aiming for a drama or comedy or a romcom? We are not quite sure where the film sits.
Acting. While very easy on the eyes, Chris Okagbue was not convincing in his portrayal of Lotanna and the chemistry with Ama K. Abrebrese came off as more rehearsed than real. Their acting paled in comparison with the more experienced members of the cast.
Editing. The movie could have done with a good chop of redundant scenes that did nothing to move the story forward. While the recurrent motif of people’s hands being nailed provided some comic relief, it became tiresome and boring. Also, some of the more serious scenes such as the robbery could have done with a tighter edit to heighten the impact of the action.
Makeup/special effects. All those nailed hands (if they were so important to the story) could have been handled more competently to elicit sympathy from the viewer. A real shame and missed opportunity!

Tboss, Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija)  2017 finalist has been hugging the limelight for a while now over a number of reasons. During her stay in the Big Brother House, she sparked off series of controversies which went viral on social media, stemming from the exposure of her pierced boobs on camera, sexual assault  on her by fellow Housemate, Kemen, her inability to sing the Nigerian national anthem, boasting of having several boyfriends who own private jets and being able to spend N25 million in less than a week.

Even after her return to Nigeria after the conclusion  of the TV show, Nigerians have exercised no chill on the controversies surrounding her as they keep trending on social media and every other platform. At the just concluded AY Live comedy/music concert which held at the Convention Centre  of Eko Hotel and Suites on Easter Sunday, popular stand-up comedian, Akpororo, made hilarious jokes out of Tboss’ boobs. According to Akpororo, Tboss’ boobs possess therapeutic powers capable of healing any form of ailment.
Shortly after storming the stage to exhibit his comic craft, Akpororo sought Tboss’ location in the audience because he had intentions to satirize her. Finally locating where she was seated among other housemates, he made hilarious jokes out of all the controversies she generated while in the Big Brother House.
“Tboss boobs get healing powers o, imagine that kind boobs wey she show for national TV! If man no well, make them just show am Tboss’ boobs and him go receive healing immediately”, he said sarcastically.
Meanwhile, mixed reactions have continued to trail Kemen’s sexual assault on Tboss. While comedian, AY, has pleaded with Nigerians to forgive Kemen for his disgraceful act which was borne out of uncontrollable sexual urge, others, such as Rita Dominic and OAP, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, continue to condemn Kemen’s sexual assault on Tboss. According to Rita, it is not rational to say that sexual misconduct or abuse is normal behaviour. They both advocated an outright condemnation of Kemen’s misdemeanour.

Second runner up in the just concluded Big Brother Naija reality show, Tokunbo Ajayi, also known as T-boss has disclosed why she bared her breast while on the show.

Speaking with Beat FM, Tboss revealed that it was part of her to strip naked while taking her bath.

Recall that T-boss had come under intense criticisms by followers of the programme for revealing her breast while on the show.

But clarifying the issue, T-boss said, “The Big Brother house was a place where I was myself. At home I don’t shower with my clothes on.”

She noted that stripping naked had become normal to her because, “Usually, in my house, I just walk around naked.”

T-boss said she never knew that exposing her breasts would cause a lot of drama on social media, adding that it wasn’t until she returned that her father sent her the viral screenshot that earned her so much criticism.

“He actually did a [snapshot]. He just sent me a picture of myself, and I was like, ‘Oh, Lord!”

On why she could not recite the National anthem, Tboss insisted that “I can totally recite the national anthem.

“[But] I was under pressure and tired because the whole day, we [were] in the sun, talking. It was a very emotional day and I was really drained. I had a meltdown and it was very very justified.”

At what moment did you decide that music is what you wanted to pursue full-time?
The moment I found myself dancing for “Ruggedman” , “LL Cool J” and “Akon” in the Star Mega Jam 2006 in Nigeria.

What were some of the things you thought you would encounter in making music outside your comfort zone?
Well I never knew the difference, as I discovered my talent and love for music outside my comfort zone; that to say “I really don’t know”. As you may know I was born in Nigeria but based in South Africa almost all my life was spent there, so I really think am in my comfort zone cause South Africa is like my second home…
How did you feel when you pulled out WASHKALAKUNDA and the response you got?
I feel great, but not surprised..
Why?
I noticed people would love the song as I have, I made a 15 second video of myself vibing to it and people response’s to it was positive, so I made-up my mind it was going to be my next single. Guest that was how I knew it was going to be great & the response was massive.
Do you see yourself settling in the music industry, much longer?
Yes I do and will, it’s what I love doing and its gives me joy… An in addition to that I noticed the more I’m consistent with it the more I become a PRO at it..
So you are telling your fan’s you got them covered, right?
Yes I do and they the main reason, we keep on doing what we know best.
If you where to work with an international act, who would that be and why?
If we can include countries from around Africa as international, but if you talking other countries. Then I will say, the list is long but let me name a few. It got to be “Meek Mill”, “TY Dollar sign” and a lot more. I just got that feeling it’s gone be great collaboration with this guy’s on a track with me.

Bisola and Efe while in the house had called TBoss names and they were confronted with it at the radio station.

While Bisola owned up to calling her white witch during the Kemen saga which she claimed was before she knew the truth about the case, Efe said he can’t remember calling her cursed

Penultimate Friday, at the Rumours Nightclub, Victoria Island, telecoms giant MTN Nigeria  launched an innovative digital comedy platform tagged Comedy+. According to the company, Comedy+, which is the first digital platform to aggregate indigenous comedy content, will serve as a source of income for comedians as well as ensure on-demand access to comedy content for subscribers.

Speaking during the launch of the unique platform, the General Manager, Brands and Communications, MTN Nigeria, Richard Iweanoge said that the introduction of the app aligns with MTN’s mandate of providing life-enriching products and services for subscribers.


He said: “The launch of this unique platform is borne out of the need to fill the yawning gap in the comedy sector. Comedy in Nigeria is fast assuming a critical position given its exponential growth and there is a need for us to harness the potentials of the sector and ensure that there is mutual benefit for all the key stakeholders.

While reeling out the benefits of the unique app, Iweanoge stressed that comedy+ subscribers will have access to tons of comedy contents by simply downloading the app on their mobile phones from the respective app stores or by simply sending COMEDY to 2100. He added that a 1 month free access period is available upon first time download and log-in while subsequent access is subscription based.

Also speaking on the initiative, veteran comedian, Ali Baba, described it as a very welcome development that is coming a time when the comedy industry is in dire need of re-organization.

According to him, “We are very happy to welcome this platform. MTN has done well by introducing this platform at a time when Nigerian comedians are feeling short changed. The value proposition is exciting and Nigerian comedians will benefit immensely from it. Nigerian music star, Wizkid, has signed a multi-album worldwide deal with RCA Records/Sony Music International.
This is according to American entertainment site, billboard.com.
WizKid told Billboard in a statement, “What’s important to me is for music to be real, authentic, raw and timeless. I don’t wanna be boxed in to any one genre. It’s hard for me to describe what I do, since I work with rhythms from Afro-Beat, reggae, hip-hop, dance hall and others.”
RCA Records chairman and CEO, Peter Edge, added: “We are thrilled to welcome WizKid to the RCA Records family. He has become a superstar in the African music scene and will be a game-changer in bringing African music to the world. .

.
We are extremely excited to have him as a part of RCA and are eager for the journey ahead.”
Sony Music International president of Northern & Eastern Europe and Africa Adam Granite in a statement said; “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome WizKid to the Sony Music family. This is an incredibly important signing as we look to make Africa a major source of repertoire for the world. Wiz is a key ambassador for this movement and we look forward to helping him conquer the globe.”
Clearly Nigeria’s biggest male Afro-Pop artiste, the musician who began his music career at age 11, is no doubt having a beautiful career.
Aside from winning the “Artiste of the Year” and Best Collaboration Act of Africa at the 2016 MTV MAMAs, he also emerged the “Best African Act” award at the 2016 MOBO awards in London. He was also crowned the ‘Artiste of the Year’ award at the third edition of AFRIMA.
The icing on the cake was his Grammy nomination courtesy of Drake‘s 2016 album, Views, which was nominated for Best Album.

Popular RnB singer, Bankole Wellington also known as Banky W, has revealed the qualities his wife to be must possess.

Featuring on Channels Television, the entertainer said he would rather have a wife who is skilled in the “other room” than the one who knows how to cook.

The popular singer who recently escaped a fire incident at his Lekki residence revealed that his wife must be ambitions, have the fear of God among others.

According to Banky W, “She must have some ambition. Whatever it is that you choose to do, be ambitious in that. Have something that you are going after.

“I don’t want a stay at home woman. A woman that has something going on. Whatever it is, you don’t need to be a billionaire, you don’t need to be making a lot of money, just have something you are working on.

“A love for family and a love for God are very important to me because I am a very family oriented guy. I’m very into my family time and I want a woman who’s about that as well.

“Friendly… because I have friends from all walks of life. I don’t only relate with one sort of person. So I don’t want somebody who is only comfortable in ratchet places or boujee (high class) places. You have to be able to cross the divide.

“I like to cook, so my wife doesn’t really need to know how to cook. I’m cool with that. It is more important to me that you are skilled in the other room than in the kitchen.

“Personal development. Education might not be necessary but personal development is. You never stop learning even if it is not in a classroom. So have that drive to develop yourself.”

IT was a night of music and dance, weekend, when hip-hop act and Samsung brand ambassador, Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru, popularly known as Reminisce thrilled fans at an event tagged, ‘Reminisce Street Concert.’


The concert which held at the Ikeja City Mall was in appreciation of his teeming fans that have stood by him since he hit the limelight in 2008, when he featured in 9ice’s “Bachelor’s Life.”

The rapper and his industry friends took turns on the night to give back to the streets. Expectedly, the ‘streets’ turned up in their tens of thousands and were not disappointed as they watched their favourite artistes perform on stage.

A couple of budding artistes set the tone for the night. But it was Reminisce and Olamide that stole the show. Though Reminisce’s first outing was uninspiring owing to the poor production output, yet he held the audience spell bound throughout the night with his energetic performance. The ‘Alaga Ibile’ later launched on stage a new model of the Samsung smartphone alongside some of the brand executives, including the company’s Director and Business Leader, Information Mobile and Technology, Mr. Emmanouil Revmatas.

Speaking on the new product offering,Reminisce said that the Galaxy Prime+ comes with really cool and exciting features that perfectly combine practicality and style. Other artistes who performed on the night were talented female singer, Eva Alordiah who put up a good performance of her songs, ‘Deaf’ and ‘Kanayo’, before going into a sober inspiring tone, advising the audience never to give up their dreams when challenges come their way.

New school Fuji Trap and hip-hop act, Terry Apala also came through and had a fairly good reception of his ‘Champagne showers’ performance. Reminisce came through with his second appearance on the night, shortly after Seriki dazzled the crowd with his street crafted lines. The ‘Asalamalekun’ rapper was joined on stage by Seriki and then YBNL baddo Olamide.

Baddo took over the floor, performing his hit songs back to back, to the admiration of the audience who would not stop cheering and singing along with him. Ckay, Mz Kiss, BaseOne, Wale Turner, Falz, ReakadoBanks, Mayorkun, Ycee, HarrySong, Dremo, Niniola, Orezi among others gave a very good account of themselves on stage.

MTV Base just revealed their hit show, Lip Sync Battle Africa, will be returning in a few months for a second season – and while Quantico actress, Pearl Thusi, will be reprising her role as co-host, D'Banj will not. Renowned TV presenter, Denrele Edun, will be replacing D'Banj as the show's second host.

Just last year, Denrele was a contestant on the pilot episode of the show, where he battled fellow TV personality, Ebuka, but narrowly lost out despite energetic performances of Yemi Alade's “Johnny” and Jamiroquai’s, “Virtual Insanity”.

Speaking about the new co-hosting gig, an excited Denrele said:

“Co-hosting Lip Sync Battle Africa is truly the answer to a prayer I never made! The universe truly opened a door, and I’m gonna make sure I jump right inside and DO IT!

It’s quite surreal – I was a contestant in Series 1 who flew in last minute and ‘spiritually’ won his LSB challenge, and now I’ve been elevated to co-host! Try not to watch me, I dare you!”
The second season of Lip Sync Battle Africa is set to return on April 22 and will see well-known personalities from across Africa letting loose as they lip sync to well-known songs in a bid to win the famous Lip Sync Battle belt.

Mavin Records ‘first lady’, Tiwa Savage has debut her international campaign with a ‘single’ collaboration with Grammy-nominated American rapper Remy Ma of Fat Joe’s rap crew, Terror Squad.

Tiwa Savage collaboration would be on the Remy Ma and Fat Joe joint album entitled “Plata o Plomo”, currently on the works.

“She is huge, she is like the African Rihanna type, you know,” Fat Joe said referring to Tiwa Savage.

The Nigerian singer in 2016 signed a major management and distribution deal with Jay Z’s label Roc Nation in the USA.

A move that made her joined the likes of Rihanna, J. Cole, Big Sean, Emeli Sande, Shakira and other American top singers who are currently signed to the entertainment company.


The “African Rihanna”, as she was popularly called by her American fans, was then tipped by industry watchers to begin the international phase of her career.

She recently attended the annual Roc Nation Brunch, and was pictured with Diddy, Jay Z, DJ Khaled, Remy Ma, Fat Joe, Kelly Rowland and others in the U.S.

The “Eminado” crooner released her sophomore album in December 2015, and a deluxe version went live in 2017.

She was nominated for the Best Video award at the 2016 Headies for ‘Bad’, her song with Wizkid.

If you're planning on giving your loved one red roses for Valentine's Day be prepared to fork out an average of $120 for a dozen stems.

Twelve red roses will set you back between $90 to $150 today, the variation in cost depends on the quality grade of the roses and the standard of wrapping. 

If that's too costly a single red rose might be more within your budget at $15 to $20. You can expect your declaration of love to last for five to seven days, before dying.

Moffatts Flower Company is the largest grower of red roses in New Zealand. It supplies some 70,000 red roses to florists and supermarkets nationwide for February 14.

General manager Nona Eklund says, flowers, in particular red roses, are more costly on Valentine's Day, but explains there is good reason for this. 

"We cut back all of our red roses just after Christmas so thousands of blooms are ready just in time for Valentine's Day, but this also means we lose out on six weeks of production and sales," Eklund says. 

The Christchurch flower growers enlisted the help of 15 extra staff, totalling their team to 55, to cut, grade and distribute 70,000 blooms late last week.

While red roses are still the most popular flower to gift on Valentine's Day Eklund says lilies, crystheriums and sunflowers are all popular too. "People really like a mixed bunch."

She says these flowers are typically cheaper and last longer than roses, meaning you'll get more bang for your buck. 

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR FLOWERS

Much like a relationship, flowers will last longer if they are looked after, here's how:
*Remove any stem foliage that will sit below water, to avoid bacterial growth.
*Recut 2cm off all stems that have come out of water.
*Place immediately in fresh water (using a flower preservative or a splash of bleach).
*Change water every two to three days, recutting stems each time and removing any dead or dying petals or foliage.
*Don't leave your flowers in a hot car as this will definitely shorten their life span.

During her Grammy performance of "Chained to the Rhythm" with Skip Marley, Katy Perry had about as much political subtlety as a car with more bumper stickers than bumper.

There was the white pantsuit, supporting Hillary Clinton. There was the lapel pin, supporting Planned Parenthood. There was the preamble to the U.S. Constitution, seemingly supporting the entire set as it was projected on the backdrop at the end of the song.

And there was the shiny white armband emblazoned with pink sequins that spelled out "Persist" -- an apparent invocation of Sen. Elizabeth Warren's televised clash last week in the Senate, when she was shut down while reading criticisms of attorney general nominee Jeff Sessions' civil rights record, before he was confirmed.

"She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless she persisted," said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

No need to explain yourself further, Katy Perry. We get it.
